Forget knobs, spanners and screwdrivers, and concentrate yourself on your work. Sit down in front of the COM52’s console and press the buttons to enter the features of your fold, adjusting the position of the creaser foot, of the guide and the lip turner, the photocells, the feed and the cement flow.
You can thus define 99 different folding styles in each feature and store them in memory. To start working, you just need to recall the requested folding style.

QUALITY

To guarantee high quality also with the most difficult operations, the perfect harmony of the folding members is matched by the accurate speed and feed length control, by the correction of the folding width on the curved edges secured by the lip turner, by the servo-control of the knife that guarantees clean and precise snipping also at low speed and in addition allows alternating the snips to avoid lacerating the upper while folding curved edges with reduced feed length.

PRODUCTIVITY

The rationalization of the internal mechanism, driven by a built-in COMELZ DC brushless motor, allows the experienced operator to reach high working speed (3000 rpm) obtaining a significant increase in productivity.

ADJUSTMENTS AND MEMORY

The operator gives the machine the directions regarding each aspect of the operation. Servo-controls operate therefore each working member adjusting its position and adapting its attitude as the curve of the component piece changes.
The features of each folding style are controlled by the machine’s computer, which can store them in memory and recall them precisely. The operator can use 99 memory records to define each folding style in regard to the adjustment of folding members, the speed and the feed length for straight edges, internal curve and external curve, the amplitude of internal and external curves, the continuous, alternate or excluded snipping, the cement flow.

All this thanks to the application of thoroughly innovative technical solutions in each of its aspects:

  • Folding members. The adjustment of all folding members are controlled through servo-controls co-ordinated   by the machine’s computer that brings them under the operator’s dominion through the console and corrects their attitude as the curve of the component piece changes.

  • Feed. Low consumption COMELZ DC brushless motor; free from the mechanical activation of the knife, it allows reaching a speed up to 3000 rpm.

  • Knife. Activated by a servo-control independent from the main motor, it constantly allows clean and precise snipping, and alternated snipping as well.

  • Cement. The twin-joint cement distribution system, driven by a servo-controlled pump, features a fixed cement pot and no flexible parts.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The SS20 was born from the accurate application of modern mechanical and electronic technology. It represents a major departure from the traditional skiving machine. The computer installed in the SS20 has made it possible to introduce some unique features. The machine, in fact, is constantly monitored, it adjusts itself automatically and stays perfectly efficient while in operation. All functions are performed by mechanical units driven by independent motors operating under the direct control of the computer. The original structure of mechanical units has made it possible to use a tilting electro-spindle, thus allowing an immediate accessibility to mechanical parts and an easier knife and grindstone replacement. The console can be easily reached and the data displays are very clear. An efficient dust collector is built in the frame of the machine.

KNIFE POSITIONING 
The gap between the cutting edge and the presser foot is preset by the operator with micrometric precision. An automatic device enables this gap to be maintained by moving the knife forward as it wears out. This very important automatic device provides for the maintenance of a high level of skiving efficiency and avoids frequent and accurate adjustments.

KNIFE SHARPENING AND GRINDSTONE DRESSING
These two operations, which in traditional machines cause a remarkable loss of time, are automatically performed by the machine, according to the parameters chosen by the operator (pressure, duration and interval). It is also possible to have the machine performing continuous sharpening for special skiving works. The operator can activate and deactivate knife sharpening and grindstone dressing at any time, within his or her own discretion.

WORK-PIECE FEEDING
The feed roller turns, by choice of the operator:
- continuously, at the predetermined speed
- at a variable speed, controlled by a pedal.
In both cases the work feeding speed can be very accurately set and it is not influenced by thickness and toughness of the material being processed.
These features make the skiving of workpieces with a complicated outline very easy.
A knee operated switch lifts the presser foot to release the workpiece at any moment.

SKIVING
Skiving parameters:
- thickness
- width
- angle
- feed speed
are shown on a display and can be micrometrically adjusted.
The operator adjusts skiving parameters and the data are automatically stored in memory, in the activated section.
There are two scarf width guides:
- movable
- fixed.

Both are present at the same time and can also be alternatively used on the same workpiece.
The movable guide allows a fine adjustment of the scarf width. It is possible to program its disappearance under the work area to allow the use of the fixed guide.
This guide, positioned under the presser foot near the knife, is perfect for complicated skiving and for workpieces with very tight curves.
The unavoidable presser foot wear can be compensated directly through the control board of the machine for every scarf at the same time, to guarantee constant skiving quality.

DATA STORAGE
The machine has a memory for 800 different types of scarf (100 groups of 8) and each one is immediately accessible.
It is sufficient to press a button to recall the required type of scarf.
The operator can improve or modify the current scarf parameters configuration at any time. The new adjustment is stored in memory, replacing the former data.

WORK-PIECE PROCESSING WITH DIFFERENT SCARVES
For those work-pieces which profile requires different skiving styles it is possible to program the necessary sequence.
The operator has only to recall on the sequence display the required types of scarf in the correct order. Afterwards, just a slight pressure on the pedal will make the machine shift from one configuration to the next.
It is also possible to store these sequences in memory, making use of the ample and versatile memory of the machine.

The SPT4 is a machine used to press and, at the same time, reinforce the seams by applying a self-sticking tape. The arm-shaped structure makes it easy to process the uppers of open and closed footwear, and boots as well. The efficiency of the feeding device of the upper and of the tape applying device accomplishes easy and fast operations.

DOUBLE FEEDING SYSTEM 
The motor drives both feed rollers; the shoe-upper is easily fed and the tape is always applied without wrinkles. It is never necessary to push the upper.

TAPE FEEDING AND SNIPPING 
A photocell accurately controls the snipping of the tape and makes it easy to adjust the length; no attention is required of the operative. The tape feeding and snipping device is a very compact assembly that leaves ample visibility of the operation point. Besides, the uppers can be fed one after the other with no need to stop the machine. Productivity is consequently greatly improved.

The SPT4 is powered by a  DC Brushless motor. Therefore the feeding speed can be easily and precisely adjusted.

COM33A and COM33N are machines used for binding any type of insole:

They can use from 12 to 24 mm wide binding tape:

AUTOMATIC TAPE POSITIONING 
On COM33A and COM33N the tape feeding device is controlled by photocells and provides for the automatic tape positioning:
- the tape in rolls is fed to the work start position after every snipping
- the tape in lengths is first fed and then, after the snipping, the exceeding portion is ejected.

TAPE SNIPPING
On COM33A the snipping of the tape can be actuated, by choice of the operator, in two modes:
- automatic
- manual
Automatic snipping.
The machine stores the length of the insole edge in memory and automatically snips the tape to measure on any insole processed afterwards.
Manual snipping.
The operator controls the snipping of the tape through a pedal that activates the servomechanism of the knife.
On COM33N the snipping of the tape can be performed only manually.

THERMO-CEMENT DISTRIBUTION
The two pumps that distribute the thermo-cement are driven by electronically controlled servomotors.
This over-refined system has made it possible to:
- easily and efficiently adjust thermo-cement amount independently on both sides of the insole;
- increase the amount of cement applied at start to obtain immediate adhesion;
- adjust cement injection shut-off time to avoid adhesive smears.

The TR4 machine applies a self-sticking tape around the edge of shoe-uppers. Its arm-shaped structure makes it easy to process both open and closed uppers.

TAPE UNROLLING SYSTEM 
The original tape unrolling device automatically adjusts its speed to that of the shoe-upper feeding system.
The tape is always applied smoothly and this system prevents any wrinkle even on the softest materials.

AUTOMATIC TAPE SNIPPING
A photocell controls the snipping of the tape.
The operative only has to guide the workpiece through; at the end of the processing the TR4 stops automatically, snips the tape and positions itself with its hammer open, ready for the exchange of the shoe-upper.
The photocell control greatly improves productivity and quality, eliminating the need to slow down at the end of the workpiece and the inevitable errors generated by manually controlled snipping.
