AI Defect Recognition

Comelz has developed a new hardware and software technology, based on artificial intelligence, capable of automatically detecting defects on hides.

In only a few seconds, using a combination of the vision technology and AI engine, all the defects are recognised on the hide.

Business rules are defined and applied in accordance with customer standards.

This ensures that defects are placed only in the specified quality areas when the pieces are nested on the leather.

The system supports both fully and semi-automatic workflows, providing the flexibility to operate autonomously or allow for manual intervention. This ensures a seamless process, including a guided review of any machine-detected defects whenever operator validation is required.

Hide acquisition
The machine takes a picture of the hide, and automatically recognizes the hide contour and the defect inside.
