Comelz at SIMAC 2026
AI, Cutting and Automation in One Integrated Process
SIMAC Tanning Tech 2026 has come to an end, and we would like to thank all the customers, partners and industry professionals who visited the Comelz stand, together with our team and partners who joined us from all over the world.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to see our technologies in action and discover how Artificial Intelligence, cutting solutions, software and automation can work together across the production workflow.
NEK+|Brain: AI-powered leather inspection
One of the key technologies presented at SIMAC was NEK+|Brain, the Comelz intelligent system for leather acquisition, digitization and analysis.
Combining advanced vision technology with Artificial Intelligence, NEK+|Brain automatically detects the hide outline and identifies defects in just a few seconds.
The system applies business rules according to each customer’s quality standards, helping make leather inspection faster, more consistent and repeatable while maintaining the possibility of operator review and intervention whenever required.
By detecting defects at an early stage and providing reliable information for the subsequent nesting process, NEK+|Brain helps optimize material usage, reduce waste and improve overall production efficiency.
SR1: a new approach to samples and fine cutting
At SIMAC, we also presented SR1, our compact, single-operator cutting system designed for samples and fine-cutting operations.
Its integrated vision system automatically re-centers each piece before cutting, ensuring a precise finished cut while eliminating the need for the tooling and dies traditionally associated with the fine-cutting process.
Compact, fast and flexible, SR1 is designed to simplify production while making it easier to manage rapid style changes and small production runs.
Aurelia: connecting the cutting room
Machines are only one part of an efficient production process. This is where Aurelia, the Comelz software platform, plays a central role.
Aurelia connects machines, data and operators from the office to the cutting room, creating a shared digital environment where production information can flow between the different stages of the process.
By connecting individual technologies within a single ecosystem, Aurelia provides greater visibility over production and supports a more coordinated, data-driven workflow.
Looking ahead
SIMAC 2026 was also an opportunity to look ahead to a new chapter for Comelz as part of Jack Technology Group.
With new opportunities for collaboration and shared expertise, we look to the future with confidence, ready to continue innovating and developing technologies for an increasingly connected and efficient manufacturing industry.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at SIMAC 2026 and contributed to three days of demonstrations, conversations and exchange.
See you at the next event.
